Vice Admiral Mark Mellett DSM (Rtd) is a distinguished leader with extensive military, academic, and strategic experience. As Ireland’s highest-ranking military officer and former Chief of Defence, he advised the Government on national security and served on both the National Security Committee and the EU Military Committee. His decorated military career includes service in Afghanistan and Lebanon, and leadership of the COVID-19 military response. He is the recipient of two Distinguished Service Medals.

Mark has a PhD in Ecosystem Governance and is the founder of Green Compass, offering strategic advice on climate change, offshore energy, ocean governance and security. He chairs the Board of the Irish Maritime Area Regulatory Authority. He is also Board Chair of Sage Advocacy, the independent national advocacy service supporting older and vulnerable people. Additionally, he serves as Council Chair at the Irish Management Institute and is an Adjunct Professor at University College Cork.

Mark’s achievements have been internationally recognised, including his appointment as Commander in the National Order of the Légion d’Honneur by the President of France. He remains deeply committed to promoting diversity, inclusion, and innovation across the public, private and NGO sectors.

Catherine Hurley

Catherine Hurley

Catherine is an experienced project director, commercial director and NED. A Chartered Engineer, she began her career with ESB Power Generation in Ireland. Over her time in ESB, she took increasingly senior roles including asset manager for Turlough Hill pumped hydro station and plant manager at Ardnacrusha hydro station.

In 2014 Catherine moved to Malta to lead a groundbreaking new LNG-to-Power plant development, bringing natural gas to Malta for power generation for the first time. Her achievements on this project spanned the contracting, execution and financing of the project, which sources its own LNG supply and was financed on a limited recourse basis.

As CEO of Quad Central in Malta from 2018 to 2022, Catherine delivered the first LEED platinum rated 44,000 sqm Grade A office development in Malta. She then moved to AIS interior office design and build firm as Head of Global Accounts, part of their senior management team. She continues to work in the energy sector, mainly in renewables projects and LNG consulting.

Catherine’s skillset is project leadership, stakeholder management and preparing new project companies for operation.
